AHA!

Well, as they say, "You learn something new every day".... I just learned that if you double click on any of the pictures on a blog they come up full page with more detail! Ha! Am I the only one who didn't know that?

Space Shuttle Endeavor

I had a fitful sleep until it was time to wake up to watch the Space Shuttle "Endeavor" go up at around 2:40 AM! Lots of people drove to the beach to watch.
It started out pretty spectacular, but unfortunately after about ten seconds it entered the thick cloud cover and DISAPPEARED!
I was glad I could just go back inside my bedroom and get back into bed. It was quick, but I'm still glad I got to see it. There won't be too many more going up.
I do believe there is a rocket launch scheduled for late tonight or sometime this week anyway - but it is in the middle of the night again. Maybe I'll check to see if I can see any stars before I go to bed and if not, I'll dream on.

Wings of a Dream

This shawl was a pleasure to knit. I used KnitPicks "Bare" 100% merino wool laceweight yarn. 100 grams/880 yards. The pattern calls for two skeins but I only used one. However, I only had 5 - 6 yards left!

The pattern is by Melanie Gibbons of Pink Lemon Twist. It is a version of her "Swan Lake" mystery knit-a-long, which is asymetrical. I chose to knit the third version which has two wings. It is about 88" x 21".
I think it would also be very nice if just the two wings came together, maybe with a 3 - 4" border stripe down the middle to connect the two wings.
I also used glass "pearl" beads all over the wings.
Now I get to choose another wonderful lace project. I must say, lace is addicting!
