Heirloom for Ava

I knitted this heirloom blanket with KnitPicks Bare Merino/Silk Fingering Wt yarn, which I really like a lot. The pattern is from Shepherd's. I started knitting it around January. The lacey center didn't take too long but the "pleated look" border seemed to take forever. When Megan was born, I made her a quilt which I hand embroidered with Bible verses, and matching crib sheet, bumpers, etc. I also made her Communion and Confirmation dresses as well as her sister Laura's. Megan has alway treasured these items and still has them.

That is why I love to make these things now for her baby, because I know she appreciates the work and love I put into them, and I know she will take good care of them.

I made this cotton print storage pouch for the blanket and included the yarn label with washing instructions, a small bottle of Eucalan, and some extra yarn - just in case there is ever need for a repair.

More for Ava

Megan's mother and I grew up together and have always had a special bond. Pat is so happy about being a Grandma for the first time...and we are both so excited that it is a girl since we can now make lots of wonderful girly things. Since I do not have any grandchildren, Pat was so sweet to say that she would share Ava with me until one day when I have my own grandchild.
This sweater is made with OnLine Linie 11 "Alpha" 100% Egyptian Cotton. The pattern is from Top Down for Toddlers by Cabin Fever.

Shoes for Ava

This is a baby shower gift for Megan. She is having a girl and naming her Ava. Due 8/8/8! That would be a great birthday - hope it happens that day.
"A girl just can't have enough shoes, soooo I thought I'd start Ava out on the right foot."
Included here are Ugg Boots, Heirloom merino/silk slippers, Lime & Coral Booties, Dorothy's Ruby Red Slippers, Black Mary Jane's with lady bug buttons and daisy applique, Furry Bunny Feet, and most fun of all - Duck Feet!
