Surprise for Jill

My daughter cross stitched these ornaments about 12 yrs ago while she was in a post graduate program. It was the first time she was ever interested in anything "crafty" and made me so happy. She went on to create very large and intricate cross stitch projects. All these years since she stitched them, they have been on my TO DO list to assemble them. So this Christmas she will be surprised to get them all wrapped up.

Beaded Diamonds Shawl

Well here is is on ME. I really love it, very comfortable to wear, I don't have to fuss with it because it just stays. I did put a button on it but it's not necessary. Sorry for the sourpuss, it was early, as you can see by the sun rise behind me. I didn't realize that was there till I saw the pix - so pretty living here

I took 2 pictures of my yarn stash for Ravelry and now I don't know how to get them into my post. I'll work on it. So this stash doesn't look like so much in the picture - of course it doesn't take into account all the other knitting that is all around the house. I know it is a mess. It is still packed from when I was away all summer, and then I was looking for some things so it got a little out of control. My New Year' resolution is to tidy and organize it all real pretty and put it back on the shelves, oh, and remove all the non-knitting from my closet. I really hate a mess.
Soon I hope to take pictures of my sewing studio downstairs. I wish I could combine Yarn Room and Sewing Room - one is on 3rd floor and the other is on 1st floor and I'm constantly running up and down the stairs.
Of course whatever I need is not where I am

Goodbye!!!

Goodbye Lorna's Laces "Helens Lace" Half Pi Shawl...........

It's been nice knitting you but I just don't like the end result (or the little holes I have everywhere - don't know why) Sooooo it's off to the Frog Pond and a new, more intricate lace shawl will appear in the future.

Hey! What Happened here!?

I don't know what happened to my whole previous post, so here it is again! I hate when that happens... So, here is my Andrea silk Beaded Diamonds Shawl in progress.

One night I had a terrible disaster. After working my heart out on this tension filled project, my center pull cake of yarn became hopelessly tangled and knotted into 4 rats nests! Yikes! I was so tired, and so upset - I never thought it could be fixed, and the yarn is too expensive to go buy a whole new hank, and I had worked on it so hard and long - now what. So I went to bed.
The next morning things looked brighter and I very patiently worked on the nests, although I did have to cut the yarn which killed me. Then I took the whole mess to the yarn shop and rewound the ball. No way could I continue to pull from the center of the ball, it just made a mess. I was in the middle of a month long hotel stay and had to use what I had on hand.... a plastic gallon water jug and a plastic tube which held my new "Harmony" dps from Knit Picks. It worked great. Pulling the yarn from the outside of the ball and not upward but straight on out prevented all the twisting and knotting.
So when I got back home to Florida I put together my new "refined" model. When I wind slippery or lace weight yarn I put a toilet paper tube on my ball winder and viola!
Now I think I will glue a nice little dish or maybe a long box onto the tile so that it can hold my stitch markers, snips, pencil, etc.

So what do you think about that?

Here is another picture of the finished shawl - I know it is shadowy. I'll post another one in a minute. Too bad I don't want to model it LOL

Loch Ness Monster?

I tried to send these two pictures to my friend Jennie last night to let her know how calm and warm and beautiful the day had been here while in Connecticut it was quite blustery ;( She couldn't open them so here they are Jen! It was already getting dark. Then I saw something strange in the lower picture? Loch Ness Monster? Have no idea what it is unless it is part of a wave that wasn't breaking??? Strange. I promised to send pix of the space shuttle shot today, but it has been scrubbed for today. The space center is very close. You can't see it in the picture, but it is just at the edge of the red roof. Hopefully my next post will show a wonderful space shot.
