The $10 Swap

I just remembered that I took a picture of the swap package I sent to Ann Arbor, Michigan. So here it is. The parameters were to only spend about $10 and Thrift Store items might be fun. So I found a brand new Sheep Shepherd, and a sheep cross stitch kit. Then I supplemented with a book my sister read and then passed on to me, then I read it and now am passing it on to my Swapee. Every knitter needs some cuticle cream, and since she is a "cat person" and a sock knitter, I made her a sock project bag with my funny cat fabric. I hope she likes it. The swaps are fun. (BTW, the laser toner cartridge is not included, just using the box!)

I've Been Sewing Again!

I'm a big time procrastinator, it's true. So here I am trying to unpack my whole sewing room after being away for 5 months. As I came across some unfinished projects, I'm happy to report that I was moved to finish up a few of them.
This little dress is for Ava Katherine. Her Mommy will be surprised when it arrives. Actually I cut it out about 8 yrs ago for one of my neice's daughters but never got around to sewing it. I just love the vintage style of it. It reminds me of Shirley Temple. Click on the picture to see it up close.

Yes, I know I have WAY too many bags, but I just love to make them. This fabric always cracked me up. Years ago I made a jacket using all the coordinating fabrics for this line. It was fun to make, but I only wore it once or twice. Also, I'm not a "cat person". I gifted the jacket to someone who is. I recently also used this fabric for a sock project bag for one of my swaps on Ravelry/Misery Knits. So much fun I'm having. I knit a lot and then am always surprised when I sew something and get soooo much pleasure from it. Sewing is my first love.
OK, next project I finished is a thread catcher. My friend Pat asked me to make her one last year, so I cut one out for myself at the same time. However, I sent hers to her but never finished mine. I thought it was just a frivolous thing, just something fun to make but not really useful, but I was wrong. I really love the convenience of it. I added a strong magnet under the fabric on one side to hold my little pair of scissors.
