I'm catching up with some very old projects. My mother had this doll kit and she did all the candlewicking and embroidery on the body and dress. She then asked me to do the face and hair, since satin stitch is my forte. She passed away in 1986 and never assembled the doll. It's been in my UFO stash all these years. Viola! I did it! and ain't she PURTY!

About 10 years ago I bought an historical "Mammy-Style Folk Doll" kit. I just love her and I'm glad I got her done this year. She reminds me of the old TV show "Beulah" - the beloved and very funny housekeeper.

While we were visiting my son in Dallas in the Spring I of course had to visit a quilt shop. There I found this wonderful vintage look fabric called "Buckarettes". Each cowgirl has a name printed under her face... Joleen, Rosa, Kitty, Emmylou, etc. Adorable. So I made a big tote with lots of pockets and a purse - done just in time for my trip to Keepsake Quilting. Sorta brings me back to the 1950's when I had "Davy Crockett" shorts!

Heeeres Teddy!

Last October we lost our dear little black toy poodle "Willie". We had 14 wonderful years with him...but it's never enough. When we got back to Florida in December we were blessed with darling little Teddy. He is a very skinny little dude - just 4 1/2 lbs. What a well behaved, loveable little guy he is! He is appropriately named, as he just always wants to cuddle like a little Teddy Bear.

Back in Hague Prison!

Yes, I know it's been a long time...been very busy and a little lazy when it comes to getting pictures up on the old blog.
So, here I am back in Hague Prison. Haven't done a lot of knitting - but did just finish two shawls for my niece. One is a black Half Pi Shawl and one is a fringed stole done in Berrocco Suede - Wild Bill Hickcock Brown.
I've done more sewing this year than knitting. Got the quilting bug again. My sister and niece came up to Hague and we took a very long day trip to Keepsake Quilting and Patternworks in Center Harbor, New Hampshire. It was a wonderful day. We also went to a nice Quilt Show in Saratoga.
So here are a few pictures... I made this quilt for my son. The pattern and screenprinted Psalms came from http://BlockPartyStudios.com and is called "Bedtime Prayers". I used batiks mostly, pine bough and moose/bear batiks on black, to commemorate all the time he spent helping my husband build our Adirondack chalet here in Hague, red batik with branding symbols because he's now living in Texas. The label has the outline of Florida where he was born and then did his internship and opened his first practice, New York where he was raised and schooled, Georgia where he went to Chiropractic school, and Texas where he is now living. He is coming up here for a visit with his girlfriend Stacy over Labor Day so I can give it to him with the matching pillow case to take back with him. It sure was a lot of work and expensive all tolled...but a labor of love of course. I'll post this and then try another - it's been a while since I did this.
